The Programme aims to cultivate application-oriented engineering professionals with sound scientific, engineering, and cultural literacy in the field of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. Graduates of the Programme are expected to acquire a systematic understanding of the fundamental theories and engineering knowledge of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. They should be capable of addressing complex engineering problems related to the design, manufacturing, inspection, operation, and management of ships, offshore structures, and marine equipment.
The Programme focuses on ship and offshore engineering, with particular emphasis on ship structural design, ship and offshore equipment manufacturing, digital and intelligent shipbuilding technologies, and engineering practice. Through systematic education and training, students are expected to develop solid professional knowledge, strong engineering practice capabilities, innovative awareness, social responsibility, teamwork spirit, international vision, and lifelong learning ability. Graduates should be able to adapt to future technological advances and evolving industrial demands, and to undertake technical, research, development, design, manufacturing, inspection, and management responsibilities in the field of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and related industries.
After four years of study, graduates of the Programme are expected to achieve the following Programme Educational Objectives:
Objective 1:
Graduates will be able to integrate and apply knowledge of natural sciences, engineering technologies, and the fundamental theories and professional knowledge of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering to develop systematic solutions to complex problems in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering or related engineering fields.
Objective 2:
Graduates will be able to keep abreast of frontier technologies in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and related fields, demonstrate innovative competency, and use modern tools to engage in the design, development, and manufacturing of ships or marine equipment.
Objective 3:
Graduates will possess good teamwork awareness and an international perspective, and will be able to communicate and collaborate effectively in addressing complex engineering problems in the field of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.
Objective 4:
Graduates will possess sound moral integrity and comprehensive scientific and cultural literacy. In engineering practice, they will take legal, cultural, and sustainable development factors into consideration and will be able to assume and fulfil social responsibilities.
Objective 5:
Graduates will maintain the ability for continuous learning and self-development, and will be able to adapt to the evolving needs of the maritime industry and the sustained development of society and the economy.
